- A. (2y + 3x)(y – 6x)
- B. (2y – 3x)(y + 6x)
- C. (2y + 3x)(y + 6x)
- D. (2y – 3x)(y – 6x)
QUICK ANSWER…
D
SOLUTION…
2y² – 15xy + 18x²
What are the two numbers that when we multiply them gives 36 (or 2 × 18), and when we add gives 15.
The numbers are 12 and 3, so, we have:
2y² – 15xy + 18x²
2y² – (12xy + 3xy) + 18x²
2y² – 12xy – 3xy + 18x²
(2y² – 12xy) – (3xy – 18x²)
2y(y – 6x) – 3x(y – 6x)
= (2y – 3x)(y – 6x)
Now for the right answer to the above question:
- Option A is incorrect.
- Option B is incorrect.
