From the diagram above PQ||RS and <PTR = 37ᵒ. What is the value of x?
- A. 127ᵒ
- B. 37ᵒ
- C. 53ᵒ
- D. 90ᵒ
QUICK ANSWER…
C
SOLUTION…
If PQ is parallel to RS, then <PTR = <TRS = 37
But from the diagram, <RTS = 90,
If the sum of total angles in a triangle = 180, then:
37 + 90 + x = 180
x = 180 – 37 – 90 = 53 degrees
Now for the right answer to the above question:
- Option A is incorrect.
- Option B is incorrect.
- C is correct.
- D is not the correct answer.
KEY-POINTS…
You may please note these/this:
- Sum of total angles in a triangle = 180 degrees
- Sum of total angles in a straight line = 180 degrees
- Opposite angles on a line joining parallel lines are equal.
