In the diagram above, L1 is parallel to L2 Find the value of <PMT

A. 36°

B. 72°

C. 82°

D. 118°

QUICK ANSWER…

C

SOLUTION

The sum of total angles on a straight line = 180 degrees.

From the diagram, 62 + (2y + 10) + y = 180

62 + 2y + 10 + y = 180

3y + 72 = 180

3y = 180 – 72

3y = 108

Therefore, y = 108/3 = 36 degrees

Therefore, angle PMT = 2y + 10 = 2(36) + 10 = 72 + 10 = 82 degrees

Now for the right answer to the above question:

  1. Option A is incorrect.
  2. Option B is incorrect.
  3. C is correct.
  4. D is not the correct answer.

QUICK TIPS…

You may please note these/this:

  • Always remember that the sum of total angles on a straight line = 180 degrees.
