Which of the following characteristics of a wave is used in the measurement of the depth of the sea?
To measure the depth of sea, a device called echo sounder is used to measure the time taken for the echo of a reflected sound wave to return.
The echo sounder sends some sound waves into the sea, after some time, the sound waves get reflected at the seabed and returns as an echo. The time taken for this sound to return is measured and used to calculate the depth of the sea.
